Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar has completed a loan switch from Internazionale to Chievo.

The 25-year-old, second-choice keeper for his country behind AC Milan’s Dida, only joined Roberto Mancini’s side in January after his contract with Flamengo expired at the end of last year.

But he has been farmed out to Chievo, where he will compete with veteran Luca Marchegiani for the number one jersey.

Cesar admits he is delighted with the move – and hopes to make a big impression in Italy.

“I’m delighted to have arrived in Italy,” he told Football Italia. “This is a dream for me and I thank Chievo with all of my heart.

“I know that it is very difficult for non-Italians to impress in goal over here. But I want to give my very best and I am here to give a helping hand to this squad.

“Wearing this shirt is an honour.”

Julio Cesar’s opportunities at Inter have been limited where Francesco Toldo is the normal starter and with Uruguayan Fabian Carini and Alberto Fontana also on the books.
