Everything’s ready for the 2024 Copa Libertadores group stage draw, which will take place on Monday at 8 PM (Brasilia time) at the CONMEBOL headquarters in Luque, Paraguay. One thing to consider for this event is that two Brazilian teams could end up in the same group.
While the draw rules do not allow two clubs from the same country to be drawn into the same group, there’s an exception for teams that qualify from the preliminary phase. Therefore, Botafogo will be eligible to face a domestic league rival in this stage.

Botafogo have 75% chance of being drawn against another Brazilian team
The Rio de Janeiro-based team took down Bolivian side Aurora before knocking out Red Bull Bragantino (who will play in the Sudamericana) to secure a place in the fourth pot for the draw. Considering that five Brazilian clubs are part of the first pot while Atlético Mineiro is in the second one, Globo Esporte notes that Fogao have a 75% chance of facing a local opponent in the Libertadores group stage.
With seven representatives in the tournament, at least six of the eight groups will have a Brazilian team. It remains to be seen whether they will all be separated or if the Lone Star ends up paired with a domestic opponent.
