Twelve rounds of the 2024 Brasileirão have passed, and the relegation zone is still heating up: Fluminense remain at the bottom, with Grêmio and Corinthians just above them but also in relegation spots.

After firing Fernando Diniz following the derby loss against Flamengo, Fluminense suffered a heartbreaking loss to Vitória in the dying minutes of the match at the Maracanã, extending their poor run in the Brazilian league, where they haven’t won since April.

Another team on a downward trend is the Gaúcho Tricolor, who couldn’t beat Atlético Goianiense. Even though Grêmio have two games in hand, Renato Portaluppi’s team is not in a great spot.

Timão have also gone several weeks without a win, and their draw with Cuiabá prevented them from moving away from the bottom of the Brazilian league standings.

At the other end of the table, Flamengo remain atop despite losing to Juventude, although they are now tied on points with Bahia, who are having a great season this year.
