The Antony affair caused a lot of noise in the media and sparked concerns about the impact on Manchester United"s reputation.

Brazilian website UOL reported the accusations which Antony has categorically denied. However, they come just two weeks after Mason Greenwood was forced to leave Manchester United due to similar allegations made online.
Charges against Greenwood, including attempted rape, coercive behavior and assault, were ultimately dropped in February due to a lack of cooperation from key witnesses in the investigation. Greenwood has consistently denied all charges against him.
Following these events, the Brazilian Football Federation issued a statement stating that “to protect the alleged victim, the player himself, as well as the Brazilian national team, [Antony] was removed from the squad." As a result, Antony will not be able to participate in the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches against Bolivia and Peru.
These assault allegations have created a delicate situation for Manchester United. The club finds itself faced with the difficult decision of whether to take appropriate action regarding Antony.
🚨 Manchester United statement on Antony: "Man United acknowledges the allegations made against Antony and notes that the Police are conducting enquiries.
