Carlos is now playing in Russia for Anzhi. During a league game against Krylia Sovetov, a fan threw a banana at the player onto the field. Carlos emotionally affected left the pitch before the end of the game and said that if a similar incident was to be repeated he would put an end to his career.

“Stop playing was what went through my mind, yes,” he told Rede Bandeirantes. “I have decided that I will stay, but if something like this happens again I will have to make a decision. You know when that sad hits, that feeling of being powerless? I left there sad, hurt. So many kids there. That has to be banned from football. When I got to the locker rooms the guys hugged me and sang for me. It was a very interesting thing. The guys on the team really like me.”

This is the second incident since Carlos arrival in Russia. Immediately after the game the Russian Football Union had a meeting to discuss the matter and as a result toughened the union’s regulations concerning manifestations of racism and Nazi symbolism.
