Rodrygo Goes has broken the silence. A few days after Brazil’s elimination from the CONMEBOL Copa América 2024 at the hands of Uruguay, the player who wore the No. 10 jersey throughout the tournament took to his Instagram account to leave a message for the fans: “Sad and painful moment! There was no lack of effort, fighting spirit, and the desire to put Brazil on top once again.”
“It’s not the time for excuses. We were far from being the Brazilian team we’re used to seeing. It’s time to be self-critical and find solutions to evolve because we know we need to do so a lot,” he added.

“Amid this sad moment, I cannot fail to thank God for the relief; at the moment, the scare was big and many things went through my mind, but God protected me and, of course, to all the Brazilian people, regardless of everything, we know that at the time of the game you support us as always.”
The 23-year-old received support on the comment section. One of those comments came from Neymar, who has praised Rodrygo on numerous occasions, even giving the young winger his trust to wear the number 10 jersey during his absence due to injury.
Now it’s time for both Rodrygo and the Brazilian team to clear their minds, as they will return to action in September for the World Cup 2026 Qualifiers.
