The Brazilian national team has just experienced one of its most challenging years in recent times. Tite’s departure after the Qatar World Cup left a huge void to fill, as neither Ramon Menezes nor Fernando Diniz could get results at the helm of the Seleção.
Brazil lost five out of nine matches in 2023, with negative records such as three consecutive defeats and their first home loss in a World Cup qualifier against Argentina. Despite all the problems, Ednaldo Rodrigues doesn’t believe it was a lost year.

Ednaldo Rodrigues is optimistic about Brazil’s future
“I don’t see it as wasted year, because we also learn lessons from what didn’t work. We must believe and move forward with the changes,” said the president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).
“We have a cycle of over two years until the World Cup. It’s enough time to reverse this entire situation. In the national team itself, we’ve seen cycles with more time and without the results we expected. Let’s turn the page and believe that from now on we will achieve positive results to win the sixth star,” he added.
The Verdeamarela begins a new era under Dorival Júnior, who will make his debut as Brazil coach in the friendly against England on Saturday, March 23rd. Three days later, the Seleção will face Spain.
That will be just the beginning for a manager who will have a lot of work ahead, as Brazil is currently sixth in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. Additionally, there’s the challenge of the Copa América in June.
