Since Tite resigned to the Brazilian national team after the quarter-final exit at Qatar 2022, there have been many rumors around the Selecao’s coaching post. Even after the hiring of Fernando Diniz, who is under contract for the Copa America 2024, the future of the Canarinha seems uncertain.
Carlo Ancelotti was linked to the position for several months until the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) chose to appoint the Fluminense boss, who combines his role at the club with that of the national team. His start has not been the best, but Ednaldo Rodrigues recently showed confidence in Diniz.

Rodrigues supports Diniz
“It’s a work in progress. Everything that changes needs time for adaptation. (Diniz) is renewing the team in a very significant way, with young players who need more time to develop their potential,” said Rodrigues.
Diniz has so far coached six games for Brazil, with a record of two wins, one draw, and three losses. The team’s current situation raises concern as the Selecao are sixth in the South American Qualifiers with seven points, eight behind the leader Argentina. They will return to action in March, with friendlies against Spain and England with their sights set on the Copa America, which will get underway in June.
