Since arriving at the Brazilian Women’s National Team in 2019, coach Pia Sundhage has been recruiting new talent. In order for players like Bruninha to arrive more technically and physically prepared in the main team, the Swede has as one of the pillars the integration of the methodology of the youth categories with the main team. The side highlights the importance of being with more experienced athletes like Andressa Alves, Bia Zanerato, Lelê and, especially, Marta.
“I was able to learn a lot from them and I continue to learn. Being here is a construction not only as an athlete, but also as a person. I think that’s amazing. Brazil plays its first game on July 24 against Panama. The countdown to realizing the dream of the unprecedented title has already begun for Bruninha and teammates. In nine editions of the World Cup, the national team had the best campaign in 2007, when it was defeated in the final by Germany.
“We know how much winning a World Cup can bring great appreciation, prove our value a lot, how hard we are striving for this, how much we can and have the capacity to get there. Today I believe that Brazilians, more than ever, are with us, also believing in the strength and energy that we are passing on. I believe that the visibility, importance and commitment to women’s football has grown a lot, but now we have to play our part and, God willing, this will work so that we can prove how much we can, how much we deserve and this is our moment”, concludes Bruninha.
