Brazilian legend Ronaldinho to play ‘peace’ matches in Israel

Ronaldinho, the great Brazilian soccer star, is looking forward to his visit to Israel as part of the FC Barcelona legends’ team.

He has a strong attachment to the country, its people and this isn’t the first time he will be there. In 2019 and 2021, the two tone World Footballer of the Year winner took part in friendly matches for peace. He even demonstrated his abilities in a special match dedicated to exceptional dribbling in 2022.

Why is Ronaldinho in Israel?

Now, he’s getting ready to join his former teammates from FC Barcelona’s golden era for a couple of friendly matches in Israel.

The first game is scheduled for September 5, where they’ll face Maccabi Tel Aviv. Two days later, they’re set to take on Maccabi Haifa at a different stadium.

Expressing his excitement, Ronaldinho said,

“Coming back to Israel fills me with joy. The country and its people hold a special place in my heart.”

He is looking forward to the thrill of playing against some of Israel’s all-time soccer legends. The matches will be played in grand stadiums, with thousands of passionate fans cheering them on.

Ronaldinho’s journey began with Gremio in Brazil. From there, he climbed the ladder to become one of soccer’s biggest stars, representing prestigious clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, and AC Milan across Europe.

His career took him to Mexico and back to Brazil. Ronaldinho’s list of achievements includes winning the Champions League with Barcelona in 2006, as well as securing victory in the 2002 World Cup and Copa America with Brazil’s national team.

He’s proudly received the Ballon d’Or award, and his outstanding performances earned him the title of FIFA World Footballer of the Year twice (2004 and 2005).
