The Paris 2024 Olympic Games came to a close with a spectacular closing ceremony that passed the baton to begin the preparation cycle for Los Angeles 2028. But the party in the French capital is not over: the Paralympic Games are coming up, which for almost two weeks will bring together athletes from all over the world.
The event will start on August 28 and end on September 8. Some 4,400 athletes will compete in 22 disciplines that will take place in several emblematic places in the city such as the Eiffel Tower, the Château de Versailles and the Grand Palais, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) said.

As for the opening ceremony, this time it will not take place on the Seine River but on the Champs-Elysees. The athletes will parade down this emblematic avenue to the Place de la Concorde, also in the center of Paris, with around 65,000 spectators expected to watch the event live.

The competitions will begin the following day, on August 29, and the first medal winners will be announced. Track cycling, taekwondo, swimming and table tennis are some of the sports on the first day, while athletics, one of the main attractions of these games, begins on August 30.
After 11 days of intense activity, the closing ceremony will take place at the Stade de France, once again the epicenter of the sporting agenda. As with the Olympic Games, the closing ceremony of the Paralympics will include passing the baton to Los Angeles 2028.
