The similarity is more than evident. This new Manchester United shirt presents us with a proposal with a white base shirt with a collar and sleeves with black details, but it is in the center of the shirt where the similarity with the Brazilian team enters.
This Manchester United shirt has three horizontal stripes in the following order: black, white, red. Does it sound familiar to you? It could perfectly be a São Paulo shirt, a club that tends to maintain the same pattern of horizontal stripes in the same color order.

Until last year, Adidas was the brand in charge of making the shirts for the São Paulo club, but now it is New Balance that is in charge of providing the sports equipment to the Brazilian team.
Footy Headlines does not rule out that the Adidas design team has taken strong inspiration from the São Paulo shirt for this new Manchester United skin, especially due to their recent professional relationship. However, there would be no historical link or direct nod from Manchester United to the São Paulo team.
