The prospect of Gabriel Moscardo’s transfer to PSG now complex and could be clogged by potential delays. The 17-year-old midfielder, driven by an unwavering desire to join Paris, has seen Chelsea recede from the pursuit, their €25M bid from last summer nearly bearing fruit. While reports suggest Barça’s withdrawal, Paris Saint-Germain encounters hurdles of its own.

Corinthians, the nurturing ground for Moscardo’s talent, stands at the threshold of a leadership transition. Augusto Melo, the incoming president succeeding Duílio Monteiro Alves in January, shared his stance on Moscardo’s transfer. In a broadcast on Rádio Bandeirantes, Melo expresses,

“I’m not selling him. Even though, during the transition, Dulio had said that if he received an offer… He’s our player, trained at home, it will be at least our third biggest sale”

Note that Augusto Melo sees Moscardo not merely as a player but as an 18-year-old navigating transition, with aspirations to elevate his value three or fourfold before considering a sale. He made this clear in the following,

“He is an 18-year-old boy, who is in the middle of a transition, he is learning to manage the pressure now, even if he is ahead of his category. It will mature further, so that we can sell it for three or four times its (current) value. We need to start selling well again in the transfer window”

PSG, initially eyeing Moscardo for a summer arrival rather than a winter move, grapples with a dilemma. Negotiate now and contend with Melo’s terms or wait until summer, but the urgency for a winter transfer is not compelling.
