Flamengo and Inter celebrated double victories in the eleventh round of the Brasileirão: they won their respective derbies and thus sank their classic rivals to the bottom of the table. Fluminense and Grêmio remain in the relegation zone and are struggling to recover.

Mengão’s victory was not without controversy: the decisive 1-0 came through a disputed penalty that Pedro converted into a goal three minutes from the end. The team led by Tite is now in the lead, while Fernando Diniz’s squad, the current Copa Libertadores champions, suffered their fourth consecutive defeat, keeping them at the bottom.

Grêmio is also not out of its crisis: they fell 1-0 to Inter, have gone six games without earning any points, and are second to last, although with two games in hand. In Curitiba, where the Tricolor gaucho plays at home due to flooding that rendered their stadium unusable, the Porto Alegre derby (known as the Gre-Nal) was decided by a shot from Vitão that found the net after deflecting off Gustavo Martins.

Palmeiras, meanwhile, has fully entered the fight for the championship. At Allianz Parque, they defeated Juventude 3-1 with a new goal from Estêvão Willian, the 17-year-old prodigy who has already been sold to Chelsea, putting them just one point away from the top.

Bahía also remains near the top after thrashing Cruzeiro 4-1 at home. Rogério Ceni’s team came from behind with goals from Thaciano, a double from Colombian Oscar Estupiñán, and another from Biel, leaving them three points behind Flamengo.

In a tournament that continues to demonstrate great parity, Botafogo fell from the podium after losing away to Criciúma, and Vasco da Gama, with an interim coach after dismissing Álvaro Pacheco, thrashed São Paulo 4-1 at home to distance themselves from the relegation zone.

Corinthians remains in the relegation zone, but managed to rescue a 1-1 draw in their visit to Athletico Paranaense thanks to a last-minute goal by Cacau. The match between Atlético Mineiro and Fortaleza ended with the same score, leaving both teams in the middle of the table.

Meanwhile, the inconsistent Red Bull Bragantino won 2-1 against Vitória. In a key duel to avoid relegation, Cuiabá and Atlético Goianiense could not break the deadlock, finishing 0-0.
