Racing Club de Strasbourg is about to pull off a masterstroke in the transfer market. According to information revealed by *L’Équipe*, the Alsatian club is about to finalize the arrival of Brazilian striker Deivid Washington from Chelsea, for a fee exceeding 21 million euros. This amount would make this transfer the highest in the history of RC Strasbourg.

Washington, 19, was signed by Chelsea last summer for €16m after impressing with Santos. However, his time in England has been inconclusive, with just three first-team appearances for a total of 23 minutes, and nine games and five goals for the Blues reserves. His low usage is due to fierce competition within the London attack. He was bought by the London side for €16m.

By paying €21 million, Strasbourg will beat its previous transfer record, set with Ivorian international Abakar Sylla for €20 million. If Deivid Washington successfully passes his medical, he will become RC Strasbourg’s 13th summer signing, underlining the club’s growing ambitions. The player, at just 19, will have already generated almost €40 million in cumulative transfer revenue.

Washington and Andrey Santos: a new Brazilian pair in Alsace?

Deivid Washington could soon join another Brazilian on the Strasbourg side, Andrey Santos. Also on loan from Chelsea, Santos has already shown his potential with the Alsatian club by scoring his first goal this season. The arrival of Washington would add a significant offensive reinforcement to Strasbourg, which is looking to strengthen for the current season. Let us recall that the club is 6th in the championship after two Ligue 1 games this season.

This transfer would mark an important step for RC Strasbourg, which continues to invest to strengthen its squad and aim higher, especially since its acquisition by BlueCo. With this operation, the club demonstrates its desire to acquire promising young talents to raise its level of play in Ligue 1.

Now all that’s missing is the official announcement.
