Gustavo Scarpa, the new attacking midfielder for Atlético-MG, completed his first week of pre-season with the club, sharing his experiences and initial concerns. “I didn’t play with any player here during my career, but the people welcomed me very well, the entire staff, players. It’s really nice to arrive and be well received,” he reflected.

Scarpa expressed his worries about the club’s environment before joining but was pleasantly surprised. He said,
“One thing I was very worried about was the environment of the club, the team and I was very surprised, because the environment is very good. A very united group. And I’m happy to be part of this group now,”
An interesting aspect of Scarpa’s move to Atlético-MG is his previous collaboration with coach Luiz Felipe Scolari. The duo, who were champions with Palmeiras in 2019, had several discussions before Scarpa’s decision to join the team.
Looking forward, Scarpa is excited about the prospect of playing alongside the Hulk-Paulinho duo, who scored 61 goals last season. Speaking about them, Scarpa mentioned,
“I hope you can keep up with them at their great pace. They are two great players. I hope to fit in as quickly as possible. I’m here to carve out my space and try to help. Not just them, but the group in general.”
