The Saudi Investment Fund is making waves in the transfer market with its bold moves targeting Real Madrid’s stars. Hot on the heels of a billion-dollar offer for Vinícius Júnior, the fund has now turned its attention to Éder Militão. Details about which club might snap him up are still under wraps, but it’s clear the negotiations are heating up.

Talks started right after Real Madrid clinched the European Super Cup with a solid 2-0 win against Atalanta in Poland. Now that the team is back in Spain, we expect new developments soon. Interestingly, the fund approached Militão’s representatives before reaching out to Real Madrid, mirroring their strategy with Vinícius.

Why Militão?

Militão, who renewed his contract until 2028 earlier this year, has a hefty 500 million euros buyout clause. Since joining from Porto in 2019 for 50 million euros, the 26-year-old has been key to Real’s defense, playing 156 games and helping them bag 11 titles.

Besides his club success, Militão has been a regular for Brazil, playing 35 games and winning the 2019 Copa América. He’s also played in the 2021 and 2024 Copa Américas and the 2022 World Cup.

This aggressive pursuit by the Saudi Fund could shake things up for Real Madrid. While snagging players like Militão could be a coup for the fund, Real faces the challenge of potentially losing a top defender, which could disrupt their team strategy.
