However, everything suggested that Lodi was in for the long term in Marseille. Permanently transferred from Atletico Madrid this summer after a successful loan, the 25-year-old left back saw himself finishing his career in the sky and white jersey, seduced by the city and the sporting project. He had signed for five years, demonstrating his motivation.

But that was without counting on Al-Hilal’s financial offensive. The Saudi club would have offered the tidy sum of 22 million euros to recruit Lodi this winter, an amount difficult to refuse for OM in search of liquidity. Even if the player had not shown himself to be transcendent in Marseille, his early departure remains a surprise.
