The fever for electronic sports grows year by year. This great popularity for video game competitions has motivated the launch of the first eSports Olympic Games, which will take place in 2025 in Saudi Arabia.
The venue will remain for the next twelve years during which these events will be held “regularly,” announced the International Olympic Committee (IOC), without specifying if it will be the same four-year periodicity as the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“By partnering with the Saudi Olympic Committee, we have ensured that Olympic values are respected, particularly regarding the game titles of the program, the promotion of gender equality, and engagement with the young audience, which is embracing eSports,” said IOC President Thomas Bach, according to a statement.
The IOC has partnered with the National Olympic Committee of Saudi Arabia to host the inaugural Olympic Esports Games 2025 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
This follows the IOC’s recent announcement to establish the Olympic Esports Games.

In this way, the country reinforces its idea of becoming the epicenter of global sports. To its football league, it has added great stars like Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Karim Benzema, and expects to be designated as the host of the 2034 World Cup by the end of the year.
