The Professional Footballers’ Association, better known by its acronym PFA, recently selected the winners of the various categories awarded by this association of English footballers.

In addition to awarding the best players of the year, the PFA also chose an XI made up of the best players in the 2023/24 Premier League and a Brazilian, Arsenal central defender Gabriel Magalhães, took the recognition and was the only South American able to get into this select group.

PFA Team of the Year

The starting XI, chosen by the players and voters of the jury, has Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya in goal. The defensive zone, made up of three defenders and a full-back, is led by William Saliba (Arsenal), Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool), Gabriel Magalhães (Arsenal) and Kyle Walker (Manchester City).

More Gunners will play a leading role in midfield, with Declan Rice (Arsenal) and Martin Odegaard (Arsenal) alongside Rodrigo Hernández (Manchester City). Finally, in attack, Erling Haaland (Manchester City), Phil Foden (Manchester City) and Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) will be in charge of scoring the goals in this star-studded squad.

Arsenal, with five representatives, are the team with the most presence in the PFA XI of the Year and Gabriel Magalhães was the only South American, and therefore the only Brazilian, to make it into the ideal team.
