Paulinho discusses how club politics led to player exits at Corinthians

Former midfielder reveals the impact of internal issues on player decisions.

In an interview scheduled to air today (10) on UOL Esporte’s YouTube channel, former Corinthians midfielder Paulinho discussed the impact of the club’s political climate on player decisions, including Cássio’s departure.

He noted that the pressure and turmoil at Corinthians influenced Cássio’s decision to leave after over a decade with the team.

“We talked a lot.”, Paulinho said. “He felt more pressured when there was any turbulence.” He added that his own decision to leave was based on the end of his cycle at the club, but he acknowledged that political issues could affect other players’ decisions.

“I speak for myself… But I think that perhaps other players could make a decision based on the club’s political events,” he explained.
