Last season was particularly bitter for the Botafogo club who, despite a strong performance, failed to win the Brazilian league title, finishing in a disappointing fifth place. The failure was difficult to digest for Textor, who points the finger at the supposed bias against his club in the last crucial matches.

“The hatred was too strong”

In a statement relayed by Globoesporte, John Textor spoke openly about the tense situation. “ In the last matches of last year, the hatred was so strong against the club, that it was very difficult for us to watch the matches. This cannot continue and we will not be able to win the championship like this ,” he said. Textor also announced that fans will soon find out what really happened during the championship.

Textor’s accusations go beyond simple frustrations. The president of OL claims to have tangible evidence of persistent corruption within the Brazilian Federation. “They say there is no corruption in Brazil, but I have recordings of judges complaining about not having received bribes. There was corruption in 2021, 2022 and 2023 and we have proof of it,” he insisted, expressing his indignation.
