Nicolás De La Cruz, Flamengo’s brand new addition, has already landed in Rio de Janeiro to join the preseason of his new team. After a great period with River Plate of Argentina, the Uruguayan international will reinforce a team that, with Tite on the bench, will seek to win the Copa Libertadores again.
“I am very happy to arrive in Brazil. I really wanted to be here, to meet all the people, the coaching staff and my teammates. I am very happy,” declared the player in conversation with FLA TV at the airport, where he was received by several fans.

Although this will be De La Cruz’s first experience in Brazilian football, the adaptation may be easier for him thanks to the presence of his compatriots Giorgian De Arrascaeta and Guillermo Varela in the squad. In fact, the 26-year-old footballer declared that they were an important part in his decision to join the Rio giant: “I had some other proposals, but we decided to come here with the family, it is a new life project for us. It is very important to move to a team as big as Flamengo. I spoke with Giorgian and Guillermo and they told me everything about the club, and that was the final kick to finalize the arrival.”
