With 13 goals in her previous Olympics, Marta is just one goal behind Cristiane, the top scorer in Olympic football history. Scoring in Paris would push Marta past this record, highlighting her remarkable consistency across five previous Games—a feat unmatched in men’s football.

Beyond personal records, Marta is determined to lead Brazil to its first women’s football Olympic gold. With two silver medals already from Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008, winning gold would be a monumental achievement, making her the first female footballer to claim three Olympic medals.

This year, Brazil’s women’s team stands as the country’s sole football representative. Their campaign kicks off against Nigeria this Thursday, with Japan and Spain also in Group C, setting the stage for a challenging tournament.
