In a historic event on Saturday, Marcelo Teixeira, a seasoned businessman, emerged victorious, reclaiming the presidency of Santos after an absence of 14 years. During his inaugural post-election interview, Teixeira delved into critical subjects, articulating plans for the upcoming Series B and sharing insights into the search for the next leader of the club.

Teixeira, with unwavering confidence, reassured the Santos community that the ambitious project for the club’s new stadium by WTorre would continue. In the interim, the iconic Peixe would grace the pitches of Pacaembu and various arenas nationwide.

Teixeira unveiled the formation of transition committees that will evaluate every facet of the club’s affairs. His call for a transparent and open process underscored the urgency for a nimble and competent response to prevailing challenges. In his words,

“Starting tomorrow we will appoint transition committees. They will evaluate all the club’s matters and departments. We hope that there will be a transparent and open process from the current board, so that we can act together quickly and competently to save time. We need to take decisions and attitudes so that Santos has an opportunity to get into shape in a difficult season”

Teixeira further expressed an expansive vision, aiming to reconstruct Santos and propel it back to its former glory by 2026. The commitment was steadfast — to extinguish the shadows of current struggles and thwart any looming relegation threats.

Expressing disdain, Teixeira deemed it intolerable to witness the anguish of fans, especially the tears of children and women, in the wake of Santos’ relegation. His commitment resonated loudly,

“I have many challenges, I have already faced these challenges, I am prepared for one more. It is a difficult challenge, but we will, with professional teamwork, develop tasks, missions and make Santos a club that makes its fans proud. It is unacceptable for us to see so many children, women and Santos fans in the world cry for seeing Santos fall from the first division. It is our commitment, to return Santos to its rightful place, from where it should never have left”

The new president explained that the decision regarding the new coach would be entrusted to transition teams who will examine existing contracts. Teixeira concluded by affirming WTorre’s unwavering commitment to the “new Vila Belmiro” project. Regardless of the team’s transient match locations, the signed contract with WTorre remained unblemished, awaiting city hall’s approval for implementation.
