Pereira pointed out a moment in injury time—a disallowed goal by Gustavo Gómez due to a handball—as emblematic of the team’s recent misfortunes. “When Palmeiras wins, the coach and squad do the talking. When we lose, I believe it’s on me to explain,” Pereira remarked.

She didn’t hide her disappointment with the VAR, noting how even celebrating goals has become a stressful affair, as decisions often get overturned upon review.
Botafogo took an early lead with goals from Igor Jesus and Savarino, but Palmeiras fought back late in the game with strikes from Flaco López and Rony to level the score.

With their Libertadores and Copa do Brasil campaigns now over, Palmeiras’ focus shifts entirely to the Brasileirão. They will face Cuiabá this Saturday at Brinco de Ouro stadium in Campinas, aiming to salvage their season by securing a third consecutive Brazilian championship title.
As the dust settles, the pressure is on to perform in domestic competition, where there is no room left for error or, indeed, any more bad luck.
