FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta i Estruch touched on a number of topics in his latest public appearance, in which he openly reviewed all the issues surrounding the transfer market, the controversies and the criticisms directed at him.

The head of the Catalan club left several headlines related to the current situation of the Catalan team, but he surprised a lot when he compared Xavi Hernández, former Barça coach, with his successor, Hansi Flick, assuring that the German has a drive, a spark, that will do good to Barça in the near future.

However, one of the most interesting topics touched on by the Barça president was that of Vitor Roque, the Brazilian striker who left Barça a few days ago to join Real Betis, a club that will take charge of his contract for the next two years, with an option to buy him for 25 million euros in the first year and 27.5 in the second, which would be optional and by mutual agreement.

In this appearance, Laporta stated that they hope that Vitor Roque can prove his worth at Real Betis, implying that they can still count on the Brazilian in the near future and also confessing that Betis was not the only club that entered the race for Tigrinho, but that up to five clubs, including Betis, asked about his situation:

“Well, Deco told me that we had Vitor Roque for this summer… and I too, because I have received direct offers, we had like four clubs, as well as Betis, to send him on loan. Some wanted to buy him. We think he is a young player and, furthermore, we think he is a very good player, and that now he will have the opportunity to show it at Betis. Here (in Barcelona), what we are happy to see is to see him play and we hope that he shows his great quality,” said the Barça president.

Vitor Roque has already made his debut for Real Betis in LaLiga and the Brazilian striker is expected to continue gaining importance in Pellegrini’s system.
