In recent weeks there has been a lot of talk about Gabigol and his possible departure from Flamengo at the beginning of the year. The footballer, who allegedly asked to leave the club, remains linked to Mengão until December 2024, the date on which his current contract ends and would have some teams interested in acquiring his services.
One of the most popular in recent days is Grêmio, a club that is still orphaned by a world-class striker after the departure of Luis Suárez. However, a club manager would have been in charge of settling and burying the rumors about the possible arrival of Gabriel Barbosa to the Porto-Alegrense club.

Antônio Brum: “There is absolutely nothing about Gabigol, he was never considered in Grêmio”
When asked about the rumors that have linked the Flamengo striker with Grêmio, Antônio Brum, the club’s vice president of football, did not want to leave any doubt about it and spoke at length about this possible signing and about the focus of the tricolor team in this start of season:
“Grêmio is working to announce signings (to reinforce the attack) as soon as possible. We want to make the right moves. There is absolutely nothing about Gabigol. Renato (Gaúcho) did not call him and he was never considered here in Gremio.” The manager stated bluntly.

At the insistence of the media, Brum once again made it clear that Gabigol is not in Grêmio’s plans for the near future:
“To be very honest, I’m not going to lie to you… Gabigol was never contacted or considered to be our center forward in 2024. That’s basically it.”
