Palmeiras coach Abel Ferreira is on Paris Saint-Germain’s radar to take over the French capital team in the next European season. Current PSG coach Christophe Galtier is unlikely to remain at the club.
According to the French newspaper L’Équipe, the Portuguese coach is an option within a list that also includes José Mourinho, Roma’s coach, Thiago Motta, Bologna’s coach, and Marcelo Gallardo, an Argentine who accumulated trophies at River Plate.

The current PSG director knows Abel Ferreira very well. Also Portuguese, Luís Campos coached Abel, a former right-back, at club Penafiel. Since then both keep a friendship.
According to the Brazilian press, Abel Ferreira’s staff is aware of the interest, but the Portuguese coach has not yet been contacted. Palmeiras also didn’t receive any approach.
With eight titles since arriving in Brazil, Abel Ferreira has been constantly mentioned as a potential name to take on European teams, in addition to the Brazilian national team.
Ferreira arrived in Brazilian football in 2020. Since then, among other trophies, he has led the club from São Paulo in winning two editions of the Copa Libertadores (2020 and 2021) and a national league (2022).
