Former Corinthians president Duilio Monteiro Alves backed goalkeeper Cássio following their CONMEBOL Sudamericana loss to Argentinos Juniors. “He is the greatest goalkeeper and athlete in the history of Corinthians. Today, he remains the best goalkeeper in Brazil. He has to play,” Duilio stated during a Bandeirantes interview on Thursday.

Duilio emphasized that mistakes are part of football and stressed the importance of team unity. “Mistakes happen, it’s part of the game. We didn’t think they were that serious,” he remarked.
He advocated for continued support for Cássio: “He may make mistakes, but when it counts, he is there. We need to support him and let him play.”
Corinthians, currently 18th in the Brasileirão and winless in three games, will face Fluminense on Sunday at 4 PM Brasília time, looking to break their losing streak.
Remembering Zagallo
