This matchup is significant for Tite because he endured a challenging stint as Atlético-MG’s coach in 2005, which lasted less than five months and ended with the team’s first relegation.

Reflecting on this period, Tite confessed in 2022 that he was ill-prepared for the challenges he faced, lacking the necessary training.

After a rocky start at Flamengo, where initial performances fell short of expectations, Tite has significantly improved the team’s fortunes.

Despite facing boos and criticism early on, he led Flamengo to win the Rio de Janeiro championship and navigate through a tough group stage in the CONMEBOL Libertadores, finishing second.

As they gear up to face Atlético-MG, Tite’s journey from past failures to his current success will be tested, offering him a chance to prove his growth and solidify Flamengo’s position at the top of the table.
