Flamengo has strongly opposed the postponement of their upcoming Brasileirão matches due to floods in Rio Grande do Sul.

The club’s vice-president of football, Marcos Braz, requested that the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) avoid rescheduling these games on FIFA dates, as they are slated to face Vasco and Grêmio in the next rounds.

The CBF initially planned a meeting for the 27th to address the issue but made an early decision.

Braz highlighted the importance of a full roster for the upcoming matches, stating, “We will play against Vasco on Saturday with the entire squad available. I don’t want to talk about Grêmio, as it’s a different situation for obvious reasons.”

He expressed concerns about the potential increase in the number of games Flamengo might have to play without several key players.

Flamengo had previously opposed a strike, emphasizing its commitment to the championship’s progress. Although no Flamengo players were called up for the current Copa América, Braz mentioned the team’s depth, “We have a wide list on the open list of substitutes, about four or five players,” ensuring readiness for any changes due to injuries.

Remembering Zagallo

Sambafoot Series launched a new documentary about the football legend Zagallo. Known as ‘Velho Lobo‘ and as superstitious as it gets, Zagallo helped shape what Brazilian football is nowadays — as a player and as a coach.
