Initially perceived as ‘very stubborn’ and a risky £60m investment, Richarlison struggled in his first season, scoring only once in 27 Premier League appearances. However, after surviving a groin surgery while putting much emphasis on mental health, his performance dramatically improved, with ten goals in 22 appearances this year.

The Brazil international will commence his rehabilitation with our medical staff immediately, before returning to training in the coming weeks.

Royal credits this change not only to Richarlison’s physical recovery but also to a shift in his mindset. “He was very stubborn, very stubborn and he started to understand that his world is not just him and his room, his house, there is another world outside that can help him and make him more,” Royal explains.
Richarlison’s newfound openness and willingness to listen have been key to his transformation. Royal shares his daily encouragement: “Now that I see him scoring every game, for me it’s a lot of happiness. “Since I’ve known him, he’s improved a lot in all aspects, especially in listening,” Royal notes. “Everyone who knows him…saying ‘Pombo has changed a lot, Pombo today is a different guy, today Pombo shares more ideas, he’s not as closed off’.”
