Daniel Alves found himself in a challenging situation in Barcelona, unable to access his financial assets. In this time of need, he turned to his colleague, Neymar, and Neymar’s family for assistance. According to UOL, with insights from three people close to Daniel, Neymar’s father transferred a significant sum of money to help with Daniel’s legal defense.

This amount, 150 thousand euros, was specifically used to pay a fine to the Spanish courts, labeled as “mitigating compensation for damage caused.” This payment is potentially influential in reducing any sentence Daniel might face if convicted.

Legal troubles for Daniel Alves

In a strategic legal move on June 28, 2023, Daniel appointed Gustavo Xisto, a well-established legal representative of Neymar Sr.’s business ventures, as his attorney-in-fact. Concurrently, he dismissed Dinorah Santana, his ex-wife, from her role in managing his financial affairs, as confirmed by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

When UOL reached out to Neymar’s team for comments, they received no response regarding this financial and legal involvement. Daniel, meanwhile, is entangled in a trial in Spain over allegations of sexual assault, and concurrently, his assets in Brazil are tangled in a web of legal battles. This includes a lawsuit against him for failing to pay alimony.

Despite divorcing in 2012, Dinorah had been a significant figure in managing Daniel’s career for a decade. In August 2023, she filed a lawsuit against Daniel, demanding R$13 million for child support due since 2022. This legal action resulted in the freezing of R$7 million from Daniel’s accounts and a portion of his salary from São Paulo FC, his football club at the time.

Documents accessed by UOL reveal that Daniel had given Dinorah extensive control over his professional affairs, a decision that remained even after his arrest in January 2023. Despite her public defense of Daniel, the couple’s relationship soured, especially over Daniel’s inconsistent child support payments since 2019. In June 2022, Daniel sought to renegotiate their financial agreement, citing his inability to maintain the agreed payments.

Neymar’s Family Provides €150,000 Assistance

Following the revocation of Dinorah’s authority over his affairs, Neymar’s family intervened, providing both legal and financial support. Prior to settling the court fine in Spain, Dinorah had initiated an audit to scrutinize Daniel’s financial records and asset history.

Adding to Daniel’s legal troubles, he is embattled in Brazil with a R$550,000 debt to Banco Safra and a legal dispute over the possession of assets worth R$3 million, including a notable horse statue, currently held by a former business associate.
