Coritiba went down to Brazil’s second division and has already begun to take measures on its squad to think about what is to come. In that sense, the club decided to release the Spanish Jesé Rodríguez and the Greek Andreas Samaris, two of its brilliant mid-season additions with whom it thought it could avoid losing the category.
“The early release of the players is in line with the objective of advancing planning with a focus on the 2024 season,” indicated a brief official statement uploaded to their social networks. The decision also affects the footballers Henrique, Gabriel Boschilia and Lucas Barbosa.

Rodríguez, former Real Madrid and PSG striker, and Samaris, international with Greece and from a step remembered by Benfica, arrived at the southern Brazilian team in September with the aim of avoiding a return to the second division. But that was not achieved and relegation was sealed after the 2-1 defeat against Fluminense last Saturday.

Both had a contract until the end of the Brasileirao, a tournament in which Coritiba still has to play two games. Despite this, both the Spaniard, 30 years old, and the Greek, 34 years old, have already been “released from carrying out activities with the club” and will have to look for their next destination.
