In Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) made a decisive move: clubs in the league can now sign up to nine foreign players, an increase from seven. This decision came from a meeting with first division team representatives and CBF leaders, aimed at shaping the 2024 Brazil Championship.

For the second time, the league will pause during FIFA dates, aligning domestic games with international fixtures, a change long requested by clubs.

CBF President Ednaldo Rodrigues emphasized the importance of dialogue and improvement. “The meeting was very useful. The CBF is always open to dialogue, always in favor of debate. You can be sure that we will continue to work to strengthen Brazilian football more and more,” he stated.

Defending champions Palmeiras, led by Portuguese coach Abel Ferreira, aim to replicate last season’s success, marked by a dramatic comeback against Botafogo.
