Event Duration, Prize and Size:
The games, featuring 4,400 athletes from various countries, will run until September 8. They include competitions across 22 sports.
Individual Events:
- Gold medalists will earn R$250,000, silver winners R$100,000, and bronze winners R$50,000.
- Athletes in team, relay, and pair events winning gold will get R$125,000 each; silver and bronze winners will receive R$50,000 and R$25,000 respectively.
Guide athletes, gutter operators, pilots, and helmsmen are also eligible for bonuses. They’ll receive 20% of the highest medal payout won by their athlete, and 10% for other medals.
Brazil’s delegation is the second-largest in its history, just behind the turnout at Rio 2016. This structured prize system is designed to surpass the country’s success from the Tokyo games, where athletes brought home 72 podiums and the committee distributed R$7 million in bonuses.
As the Paris games unfold, the Brazilian team is not only looking to top their previous medal tally but also capitalize on the substantial financial incentives laid out for their success.
