Brazil tied 1-1 against the United States at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando in their last friendly before their Copa América debut. The goal scorers were Rodrygo and Christian Pulisic, both in the first half, in a match where both teams had clear chances to win.

Unlike the 3-2 victory over Mexico, coach Dorival Junior started what would be the main team. Vinicius, Rodrygo, and Raphinha formed the offensive trio, with Endrick on the bench.

The attack was effective at the 16th minute, allowing the Seleção to open the scoring. High pressure to recover the ball quickly, a precise assist from Raphinha to Rodrygo, and the Real Madrid forward, wearing number 10, finished skillfully in a one-on-one against goalkeeper Matt Turner.

The joy for the five-time champions lasted less than 10 minutes. At the 26th minute, Pulisic converted a free kick from the heart of the box, shooting low to the post that should have been under Alisson Becker’s control.

The Liverpool goalkeeper failed on that goal, but he showcased his quality in the second half with key saves to prevent the hosts from taking the lead. On the other side, Turner also shone by blocking shots from Rodrygo, Vini, and Endrick, who came on for Bruno Guimarães in the 65th minute.

Brazil will continue training in Orlando, ahead of their Copa América debut against Costa Rica on June 24. They will then face Paraguay on the 28th and Colombia on July 2, in Group D.

Meanwhile, the United States will begin their journey in the continental tournament on June 23 against Bolivia, in a Group D that also includes Panama and Uruguay.

Remembering Zagallo

Sambafoot Series launched a new documentary about the football legend Zagallo. Known as ‘Velho Lobo‘ and as superstitious as it gets, Zagallo helped shape what Brazilian football is nowadays — as a player and as a coach.
