For the first time, Brazil is in the race to host the Women’s World Cup, competing against joint bids from Europe—specifically Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium—and North America, combining the United States and Mexico. The event will feature 32 teams, including Brazil, which eyes its first championship title.
Backing Brazil’s bid strongly is President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. In March of the previous year, during the cup’s presentation at Palácio da Alvorada, Lula fervently advocated for Brazil as the 2027 host.
He envisioned the tournament as a catalyst for enhancing political awareness and encouraging women’s active participation across various spheres.
Lula also noted that Brazil’s urban infrastructure and stadium facilities have significantly improved since 2014, affirming the country’s preparedness for such a prestigious event.
