Brazil’s performance in the last five Copa América debuts:

Brazil 3 – Venezuela 0 (2021)

Brazil hosted the last Copa América, held without an audience due to the Covid-19 pandemic. At the National Mané Garrincha Stadium against a Venezuelan team weakened by a virus outbreak, the Canarinha won 3-0 with goals from Marquinhos, Neymar, and Gabigol.

Brazil 3 – Bolivia 0 (2019)

The team led by Tite defeated Bolivia 3-0 at the Morumbi stadium in São Paulo. With a white alternative shirt, the goals came in the second half through Philippe Coutinho on two occasions and Everton Soares.

Brazil 0 – Ecuador 0 (2016)

At the Rose Bowl stadium, Pasadena, the Seleção’s journey in the Copa América Centenario played in the United States began with a goalless draw against Ecuador. Dunga was the coach in that team that had among its starters not so usual names such as defender Gil, midfielder Elias, forward Jonás Oliveira and in which Lucas Lima had the number 10.

Brazil 2 – Peru 1 (2015)

The five-time world champion started his debut against Peru at the Germán Becker stadium in Temuco, Chile. Christian Cueva opened the scoring, although Neymar and Diego Costa then appeared, around the hour mark, for the final 2-1. The team qualified first in Group C and lost on penalties in the quarterfinals against Paraguay.

Brazil 0 – Venezuela 0 (2011)

Mano Menezes was the coach in that continental tournament that for Brazil began with a goalless draw against Venezuela at the Único stadium in La Plata, in Argentina. Robinho, Ganso and Pato formed the attacking quartet along with Neymar in that clash for a team that also lost to Paraguay in the quarterfinals, after a fateful shootout in which the Brazilians missed all the penalties.
