Lawyer Aldo Giovani Kurle, representing the claimants, emphasizes the severe financial mismanagement. “Of overdue installments, we have approximately R$7.7 million just in transfer funds and commissions. The value of the installments that are still due exceeds R$20 million,” Kurle stated.

Lack of communication from Botafogo

Kurle expressed frustration with Botafogo’s response to financial obligations: “You speak to the club’s departments and everyone avoids a more forceful response. Their argument is always ‘we are waiting for some funds to come in’. And we wait, but they still don’t pay anyone. I have over 25 years in this sports field and I have never seen a default like this for me.”

The financial issues could lead to serious consequences for Botafogo, including potential transfer bans, point deductions, or relegation. Labor-related issues might result in the seizure of funds or blocking of broadcast revenue.

Botafogo’s response

In response, Botafogo issued a statement disputing Kurle’s claims and accusing him of unprofessional conduct. “Botafogo regrets the reports presented by lawyer Aldo Kurle and takes the opportunity to clarify that his actions do not reflect the professionalism expected in the sports industry,” the club stated.

They reiterated their intent to contest the claims in appropriate legal forums and warned of possible malicious actions by the involved parties.
