Yan Couto’s next destination is not yet defined, although it is certain that it will be with a big team. According to the press, Borussia Dortmund have already made a concrete move to sign the full-back who was part of Brazil’s squad at the 2024 Copa América.

The European runners-up have contacted Manchester City, who own the club, to sign him. They are willing to offer a sum between 20 and 25 million euros, which is not far from the 30 million euros demanded by the English club.

This was reported by the German subsidiary of the Sky Sports channel, as well as by the Catalan media Mundo Deportivo. Couto is coming off a great season at Girona, a team that finished third in La Liga and qualified for the Champions League for the first time in its history.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano also confirmed that Dortmund have made contact and that they intend to pay less than the €40 million buyout clause. He added that the player would be interested in a move to the German side.

The reconstruction of Dortmund

Following the surprise departure of Edin Terzić as coach, Nuri Şahin took over the reins of the team that lost the last Champions League final against Real Madrid. In their last pre-season friendly and without the legendary Marco Reus in the squad, they were beaten 4-0 by Pathum United of Thailand.

In that surprising defeat, the starter on the right flank was Julian Ryerson, the Norwegian who was also in the starting eleven in the match at Wembley, when he had to mark Vinicius. In the next few days it will be known if Yan Couto will be the owner of that position.
