Previously acquired by SL Benfica, Veríssimo suffered a major injury that negatively affected his on-field performance. He has since undergone extensive rehabilitation, striving to regain his top form as a player.

In their quest to secure Veríssimo’s services on a permanent basis, Corinthians’ management initiated early negotiations with Benfica. These talks indicated an opening valuation of €8 million for the player, although Benfica’s initial demand was €10 million. Unfazed, Corinthians strategically planned to offer €6 million, with the intention of integrating Veríssimo as a pivotal element in their defensive lineup.
