At the beginning of January 2018, Philippe Coutinho was transferred from Liverpool to FC Barcelona in one of the most important operations of that mid-season window. Five years later, the attacking midfielder’s career is far from that brilliance and Aston Villa, owner of his transfer, is looking for a club for his future.
The 31-year-old Brazilian is currently on loan until the end of the season at Al Duhail in Qatar, without as much media focus and with less filming than was expected as a result of some injuries. In this framework, Spanish coach Unai Emery would not take him into account upon his return and the Premier League club is already looking for his next destination.

According to the MLS Multiplex site, specialized in Major League Soccer, Aston Villa has already started talks with several clubs in the American league with the initial intention of sealing a new loan. The portal reports that the English team is also open to the idea of a sale, although it will look for an offer similar to the 20 million euros it paid two years ago.

The expansion of the MLS with great figures
The MLS is interested in continuing its global expansion by adding renowned players to its teams, with Luis Suárez at Inter Miami as the latest example. An eventual arrival of Coutinho to the United States would collaborate in that objective.
Aston Villa are coping very well this season without the Brazilian: they are second in the Premier League, three points behind leaders Liverpool. So we will have to wait if a good offer arrives for the footballer and if his desire is to return to a European competition or explore a new destination.
