Another final for Marcelo: How many times has he won the Club World Cup?

The left back is synonymous with titles and if he lifts the trophy in Saudi Arabia he can reach the mark of a former teammate at Real Madrid.

Marcelo is once again in a Club World Cup final. The left back was key in Fluminense’s victory against Al Ahly in the semifinals by making his rival dance and causing the penalty that Jhon Arias converted into a goal to break the zero score.

The thing is that at 35 years old the Brazilian does not lose validity. After just over three decades at Real Madrid, in which he won 25 titles, and a discreet brief spell at Olympiakos in Greece, he returned to Fluminense, the club that formed him, with the aim of continuing to fill his trophy case.

At the beginning of November he won the Copa Libertadores to join the select group of footballers whose resume includes winning that competition and the Champions League. He now goes further and wants to take the Rio team to the top, not only in Latin America, but in the world.

Marcelo already knows what it means to win the Club World Cup. He played it four times and won all of them: 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018. An undefeated team that he will not want to lose now in Saudi Arabia.

The most winners of the Club World Cup

If the full-back wins a new Club World Cup, he will reach the record of Karim Benzema, his former Real Madrid teammate who in this edition could not lead Al Ittihad, the local team that fell to Al Ahly, to glory.

But regardless of what happens, the king will continue to be Toni Kroos, the German who has six of these trophies: one obtained with Bayer Munich in 2013 and the other five with the Merengue shirt (2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2022).
