André Jardine is enjoying a spectacular start to his cycle as América coach. In his first semester in Coapa, the Brazilian was close to breaking the record for points in a short tournament in the Liga MX, since his Águilas finished the Apertura 2023 regular season with 40 points.
Now the most challenging challenge awaits him, which will be to transfer all the good things done in these 17 games to the Liguilla, where the azulcrema club left much to be desired in recent years. But before entering this hot stage, Jardine looked back and confessed how difficult it was to face América as a rival coach.

Jardine, sincere about how hard it is to be a rival of America
“América played in a quite offensive way and I love it, when I was a rival it was always a worry, a pain in the ass (as they say) to face América because they are a team that attacks you with a lot of people, they always score a lot of goals “, he noted in the RedÁguila podcast , cited by Récord .
“But in some way my role in this first moment was to try to give a little more defensive order, defensive responsibilities, to find a balance that can attack without being so concerned with counterattacks or ways of defending, to not be scared with this because we knew how to attack, but we didn’t know how to defend,” explained the former Atlético de San Luis strategist.
“I know clearly that we have to go step by step, perhaps this first moment is about seeking order and consistency, giving the players peace of mind that we are a more complete team, and from there looking for the confidence we want, looking for great tournaments, titles, conquests and hopefully we can have a decade of a team that marks an era,” Jardine added.
