Since Filipe Luís announced his retirement from professional football in December, there were several possible jobs that resonated around him. The thing is that his experience of two decades in Europe and 44 games with the Brazilian national team left him several lessons and a resume that many teams wanted to take advantage of.
One of the proposals that approached him was to be the next technical coordinator of the Seleção, within the framework of the new stage that begins with the management of Dorival Júnior, but the former left back rejected it to pursue his own dream of becoming a coach.

Finally, that first opportunity came: Flamengo announced on their social networks that starting January 22 he will be the new coach of their under-17 team. The former footballer, 38, already has the license granted by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to coach youth players and is completing the license that enables him to direct professional teams.
In this way, he will continue to be linked to the team with which he retired and with which he played for four years, during which time he won ten titles, including two Brasileiraos and two Copa Libertadores (2019, 2022).

Although it is premature to know how Filipe Luís will approach his teams, it is clear that his role model is Diego Simeone, who was his coach for almost seven years at Atlético de Madrid. “Simeone was the main person who made me want to be a coach, it’s because of him,” he revealed last month.
