“I meant to elbow a defender but ended up facing the goal with the ball at my feet,” said Adriano, recounting the lead-up to his famous goal. The match was tense, with Argentina moments from victory. “The foul on Carlos Tévez set me up. I hit the ball hard, not aiming anywhere specific,” he added.

This goal shot Adriano to fame and marked a new start in his career. Before the tournament, he was relatively unknown in Brazil due to his early move to Italy. “The 2004 Copa América was my breakout. It was my chance to show Brazil my skill,” he shared.

Adriano dominated the tournament, topping the goal charts and making decisive plays in crucial games. Today, he balances sponsor commitments with downtime. “I work with brands, but mostly, I enjoy life and have fun,” he explained. His social media shows him relaxed, often with former teammates.

With the new Copa América approaching, Adriano expressed confidence in Brazil’s young squad. “They know what they need to do. Wearing the national jersey is about pride and duty,” he advised, encouraging the team.

Adriano’s past exploits and his current insights are a beacon for Brazil as they embark on another quest for continental glory.
