Endrick, a crucial player in Palmeiras’ recent Brazilian Championship victory, is currently away with Brazil’s Pre-Olympic team. This absence is just the beginning, as a move to Real Madrid looms in six months. Palmeiras’ coach, Abel Ferreira, is candid about the situation. “Endrick’s focus might be uncertain,” he says, highlighting the need for a replacement striker.

Endrick’s transfer to Real Madrid is a significant deal, involving 35 million euros, with additional bonuses possible. He remains at Palmeiras until mid-season, before his transfer upon turning 18 in July 2024. “He’s a brilliant goal scorer,” acknowledges the coach, “but his time with us is limited.”

Who could replace Endrick?

The coach discusses internal deliberations about Endrick’s departure. “We’re exploring options,” he reveals, emphasizing the need for a plan before or just as Endrick leaves.

Ferreira is known for valuing diverse player skills. He’s keen on finding a striker who can anchor the attack, a role Endrick will vacate. “We’re eyeing someone who can lead up front,” he explains, aware of the challenges in this search.

Despite Endrick’s impending departure, Palmeiras has been active in the transfer market, signing midfielder Aníbal Moreno, striker Bruno Rodrigues, and left-back Caio Paulista. However, none are direct replacements for the striker position.

Leila Pereira, the club’s president, speaks highly of the current squad. “Our strength lies in our victorious athletes,” she states, reassuring that the club will meet any needs identified by the coach.

Endrick, a product of Palmeiras’ youth system, had a standout season last year, with 14 goals in 53 appearances. His performance, especially in the latter part of the season, was pivotal in securing the Brazilian Championship for Palmeiras.
