In an attempt to strengthen their midfield following the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, Liverpool restarted their quest for Brazilian midfielder, Andre Trindade, currently under contract with Fluminense. Despite an initial offer of 30 million euros having been rejected by the Brazilian club, hope remains on the Liverpool side.

Fluminense president, Mario Bittencourt revealed that an agreement was in place between the club, the player, and his representative, stipulating that Andre would stay until the end of the year in Brazil. However, he also opened the door for a possible move to Liverpool.

Bittencourt told ESPN: “There is an agreement between us, the player and his representative, that he will stay until the end of the year, and they are fully committed and comfortable with that. In the case of Liverpool, I go even further. The general manager of Liverpool contacted me directly, and I said: ‘My friend, I’m not selling players now, and I’m not delivering now.’ If you would like to buy now for the transfer to be completed in January we can start to discuss, or if you would prefer to wait until December we can discuss then

Liverpool insist

The Mersey club had already suffered a categorical refusal from Fluminense for their offer of 30 million euros, especially after missing out on the signings of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, both of whom chose to join Chelsea.

However, with the prospect of Fluminense being willing to offload Andre once the season ends at the end of the year, Liverpool could have another chance to secure the player they have coveted for some time.

Discussions between the two clubs promise to be closely followed in the coming months.
